Happy New Year! The First Sunday in Advent begins a new liturgical year. This year, our Daily Office Readings are contained in the Lectionary Year 1. Our own BCOS Daily Office Lectionary will contain both the appointed scripture readings for Year1 and also the Lectionary contained in the Anglican Catholic Liturgy of the Hours as an alternative choice of readings. Be sure to check out the Lectionary under the "Our Publications" tab.
1/2/2021 At Home With the Lord:
23 February, 1947 – 28 December, 2020
Val Hemozkiy was called home to the Lord on Monday, 28 December 2020.
The family will receive friends at 10:00am on Monday, January 4, 2021 at First Baptist Church Forest Park. Pastor Elliott Yancey will officiate Val's funeral at 11:00am on Monday at the church.
Interment will follow at Piedmont Memory Gardens in Borden Springs, Alabama.
Val has been a great friend to St. Francis Anglican Church. He was always ready and willing to help us in any way we needed him. He helped us move into this building; unload the statue of Mary in our cloister area; assisted with many repairs; was chef at our pancake, spaghetti, and fish fry suppers.
Val had a deep love for the needy and was very involved with food for the poor programs at First Baptist and St. Francis churches.
He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Glenda, son, Charles "Chip" (Heather) Hemozkiy of Greensboro, North Carolina, granddaughters, Abigail and Maggie of Locust Grove, a sister Sophia Thomas of Mableton, niece Chris Bartlett, brother-in-law Grant Armstrong, and his devoted pet, Princess.
“Eternal rest, grant unto him, O Lord, and let light perpetual shine upon him. May his soul, and the souls of all the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace.”
